New year resolutions..

As I started this blog a while ago and haven't actually posted much one of my many resolutions was to make a permanent schedule to upload posts. I will upload every Wednesday and soon (if I pass my driving test) I will have a lot more free time because I will be free from driving lessons!
As I said before I have made other resolutions, some which i will probably break but its worth giving it a go!

1. Blog more
2. Get fitter- I know everyone says this but I really hope to stick to this one as I really need to tone up!
3. Do a diary every day- I have tried many times and failed to keep a diary going throughout the year but this year I really want to try and keep it going.
4. Be more positive
5.  keep a list of all the books I have read throughout the year
6. Drink more water

Zoo keeper experience!

Last November, for my 16th Birthday present my Parents bought me a keeper for the day experience at Whipsnade zoo. So on the 17th June, after my last GCSE exam me and my mum drove down to whipsnade to stay the night in a premier inn before the day began.

Our experience began at 8:45 where we were given 'keeper for a day' T shirts. Then we tucked into out bacon baps and tea while we were told what we were doing for the day! First of all we cleaned out the rhinos. This involved us picking up the poo with forks and then hosing it all down. Then we had to sweep all the bark from their enclosure off the concrete. After this we got to feed them Carrots and apples. This was amazing as I am used to seeing rhinos as dangerous and they are so gentle when you are feeding them!

We then went on to feed the giraffes branches which they stripped with their tongues and we met the baby giraffe who was so cute!

We moved on to cleaning out the elephants enclosure. In the enclosure they had barrels, wood, balls and loads of things for treats to be put in.

 Then before lunch we fed the otters some frozen dead rat.. which was quite disgusting but the otters were so cute!

After lunch we met some sloth bears while chopping up fruit and mixing feeds in the building next door to them.

We made food for the Hippos- lettuce, red river hogs- apple and dog biscuits and another breed of hog- carrots and apples. We then fed the hippos their lettuce in their water area, they were so slow but so sweet!

There was also a baby hippo in the indoor enclosure with her mother, she was SO cute and tiny!

 Then the river hogs and the other breed of hogs were fed. We then went to the wolves and fed them some horse! it was quite disgusting but the wolves seemed to enjoy it!

Then after that we went to do the thing I was most excited for, Feeding the elephants! Elephants are my favourite animal and it was so incredible to be stood right next to one feeding them! After we spoke to the keeper and watched them graze. The elephants are walked around the 600 acre zoo every day so that they aren't stuck in an enclosure. They are walked to a field/forest like area where they are let loose for a couple of hours to graze and show their natural behaviour.

After that we went to the lemurs and cleaned them out and afterwards fed them.

It was a truly amazing and unforgettable day that will stay with me forever. If you ever get the chance to do something like this, I totally recommend it, well worth the money!

The New horse

Meet Louie!

After a lot of evenings filled with discussions, long lists and a lot of tears! We have finally decided to sell Jack. Mum has decided she would be better with a different horse that's older and that Jack would be better in a new home with a more confident rider. He is currently for sale and I must say I'm totally heart broken over the whole situation!

Anyway mum quickly found a new horse and he is called Louie. He is a grey Highland type and is 14.1. He is lovely- an almost identical clone to Toppey which is what mum wants character wise! Anyway so far so good with him, hopefully this afternoon we will be taking him out in the trailer to go exploring in the woods:)

Hopefully theses Easter holidays should be quite fun now mums got a horse and we can go out exploring on them both. We are also going to a nice Hotel this weekend for my Great Aunts birthday and then it's just revision for my exams coming up!

Afternoon tea with the Family

Since Wednesday I have been on my Easter holidays and as a break from revision my Family and I decided to go out for afternoon tea. I have never been out for one before so was quite excited!

When we arrived we were offered fresh Orange juice and then shown the amazing array of teas we could have! I picked Green tea (It had a snazzy Chinese name but I can't remember it). They then bought out 2 massive stands with a selection of cakes, sandwiches and scones- They were all so delicious!

 We got these cute timers telling us the perfect amount of time to leave out tea stewing for.

I also got a really sweet tea pot with my green tea in. The Green tea was a nice change to normal green tea, it was slightly more spicy if that makes sense? 

Then these beautiful stands with sandwiches, scones and cakes (the best part!)  They were delicious and so filling! 

It was such a lovely afternoon and I will definitely be going back again soon!

Trying to fit everything in...

GCSE Mocks, Rowing training, trying to keep my fitness up, meeting friends and trying to get a ride in...

 Over the Christmas holidays I have basically spent it all in my room or at the rowing club. My Mocks seem to be getting increasingly closer (next week, eeekk) and I don't seem to have learnt anything. I am at the club at 8am most mornings to do our rowing outings (and when it's freezing, windy and raining, I tell you, they are no fun at all!) Yesterday morning was even more entertaining than usual because it was high tide so we had to wade out to put the boats out. The river was over our knees and we where soon frozen with the freezing river and not being able to warm up for 3 hours because we were out on the water for well over 3 hours:(

 Toppey (my Pony) seems to have been a bit abandoned this holidays riding wise as I have been rowing 5 times a week while having family over and revising. I took her out this morning though and she really enjoyed the 1 1/2 hour long ride with her boyfriend who came to visit. We had planned to do dressage this winter but that has gone completely out of the window after realizing how much work I really had to do! She also has a repeated load of rain scold on her head, (if you don't know what it is, it's basically where she goes bald because of bacteria and it's really hard to get rid of after she's got it) So she isn't looking too attractive at the moment either!

Shooting Stars....

Last night my little brother dragged me out at half 10 having convinced me that there were shooting stars. We sat outside for about 20 minutes before we saw anything and gradually there were more shooting stars. There were amazing, Kind of addicting watching them. I never thought I would be the kind of person to actually enjoy sitting in the garden, absolutely frozen in the pitch black. One of the stars shot right in front of us really close and bright. It was amazing!

Then I went out this evening to look at the sunset and it was beautiful because of the meteor dust left behind. I think my brother is going out again tomorrow but I'm not going to as I'm going to spain tomorrow and don't want to be tired! :D

Welcome..

Helloo, welcome to my new blog! 

I am a normal teenage girl trying to work out what I want to do with my life. I am obsessed with excersize, rowing and riding! I can't wait to leave school next year and to go to sixth form college.
It will basically just be me wittering on about life in general, my little worries and mytrips out. It will be a range of things, from general day to day life going ons to reviews on things to where I have been recently.
